Professional profile

Associate Professor of the Department of Business Administration. He is an economist from Universidad Católica Boliviana (Bolivia), he has a postgraduate degree in Computer Economics from Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (Bolivia), and has a Master’s degree and a Doctorate in Econometrics from the University of Geneva (Switzerland). His research focuses on statistical modeling applied to the labor economy, the informal labor market in Latin America and agribusiness. He belongs to the R4D network, sponsored by the Swiss National Fund, under which he investigates the issue of Trade Opening and its implications for informal employment. His teaching focuses on the application of quantitative methods to the Business area. Beyond the UP, his teaching experience involves international training in applied microeconometrics and mesoeconomic models of employment projection. He is affiliated with PEP-Network, an international organization in which he collaborates by mentoring research projects in southern countries under the program “Policy Analysis on Growth and Employment.” He is on the advisory committee of FinanceThink, a Macedonian-based think tank. He has collaborated with the World Bank, UNICEF and the International Labor Organization providing training and in the production of synthetic labor indicators as well as employment projections (Latin America, Africa and Europe). In the financial area, he has been a consultant for SGFC (Société de Gestion Financière et Commerciale, Nyon-Switzerland) and financial risk analyst for the international reserves of the Central Bank of Bolivia.
