He has been a Research Analyst at the Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), a Consultant at Economic Development Initiatives (EDI), a Visiting Researcher at the Center for Research on Inequality, Human Security and Ethnicity (CRISE) at the University of Oxford. He has been a Professor by subjects in the Master’s degree in economics at the University of California, Santa Cruz and at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. In parallel, he has undertaken consultancies for the World Bank, IFPRI, African Growth and Development Policy (AGRODEP), Salvadoran Foundation for Economic and Social Development (FUSADES), Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), Department for International Development and FONDOEMPLEO. He has field experience in Tanzania, Ecuador, El Salvador, Peru, and South Africa.
