Abstract

With the intention of researching the growing influence of evangelical politicians in Brazilian politics, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Brazil launches the publication New political activism in Brazil: evangelicals in the 21st century. Organized by José Luis Pérez Guadalupe and Brenda Carranza, this work consists of a robust introduction on the relationship between Brazil and the new religious actors at the regional level plus fourteen chapters that investigate several of the most important aspects of the subject. Written by a renowned group of experts, with extensive experience and dedication to the topic, the chapters are divided into three sections: Evangelicals in Latin America: political processes, Evangelicals in times of crisis in Brazil and the evangelical agenda and the Bolsonaro government, in order to encompass a varied set of topics, in a complementary way. We would like to express our thanks to everyone involved in this project, which is now materialized in this book. We would like to wish you a fruitful reading here and to all who are interested in this work, with the expectation that you can contribute positively to the debates on such an important topic
