Professional profile

Professor Emeritus of Universidad del Pacífico. He performs teaching duties in the Department of Economics and at the Graduate School of Universidad del Pacífico. He has an M.A. in Economics from The University of Chicago (United States), a Master's in Economics from Universidad Católica de Chile and a Licentiate (professional license) in Economics from Universidad del Pacífico. His main areas of interest are related to Macroeconomics, Monetary Theory and Practice and Finance. He has teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels in charge of courses such as Economic Policy, Economics for Business, and Monetary Theory. He is the author of various books and articles in his areas of interest. He has been Minister of State in the Portfolio of Labor and Social Promotion, President of the Commission for the Promotion of Private Investment (COPRI), and Minister of State in charge of the Portfolio of Foreign Relations. He served as Dean of the School of Economics of this house of studies for three statutory periods. He was Dean of the Lima College of Economists for two consecutive terms. He is an honorary Professor at various universities in the country, such as San Cristóbal de Huamanga; Saint Augustine de Arequipa; Universidad Nacional de Piura; Universidad Nacional del Altiplano, Universidad Privada del Norte, among others. He was Vice President of Administration and Systems of the Andean Development Corporation (CAF), Venezuela. He was a Professor in the MBA program at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Mexico. He is a Director in various Peruvian private companies and public institutions. He was appointed in several academic years as the Best Evaluated Professor of the Department of Economics and of the Graduate School of Universidad del Pacífico. He also received an outstanding evaluation as a teacher in the 2005 academic year from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Mexico. In October 2010 he received the Professional Merit Award from the College of Economists of Lima, Peru.
