Professional profile

Full-time Professor-Researcher at the Graduate School of Universidad del Pacífico and a member of the macroeconomics area of CIUP. He is a professor in economics from Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económica, A.C. (CIDE) in Mexico and holds a Licentiate (professional license) in Economics from Universidad del Pacífico. He has 30 years of teaching experience in Mexico, Peru and Great Britain. He is an arbitrator of various Latin American economics magazines and maintains a periodic journalistic column and a blog on economic issues. During the last years he specialized in energy issues, having made various publications, studies and models for the Ministry of Energy and Petróleos Mexicanos. He also works on macroeconomic, distributional, financial and transportation infrastructure issues. He has been president of the National Center for Strategic Planning (CEPLAN), vice minister of economy and advisor to the Minister of Economy and Finance, an official of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru, and advisor to the Head of the National Planning Institute. He was also an economic affairs officer in the Statistics and Projections Division of ECLAC-United Nations. Within the Mexican port system, he has served as director of economic analysis and rates, manager of financial studies and coordinator of the integral port administrations of the North and Central Pacific. In consulting he worked as project director and regional director of Felipe Ochoa y Asociados, S.C. in Mexico and Peru. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of various companies in Mexico and Peru.
