Resumen
This article examines the philosophical significance of Valera’s Logica in via Scoti in the history of ideas in Peru since its publication in 1610. While the work inaugurates philosophical activity in the region, it does so through the lens of logic. In other words, philosophy in Peru and in South America emerges with a distinct logical predominance, shaped by the need in the seventeenth century to develop conceptual tools capable of facilitating understanding among highly diverse and disparate mentalities, such as those of the Quechua, Aymara, and Hispanic populations coexisting within the same social and intellectual space.
