Abstract
This paper approximates the impact of three road infrastructure concession contracts on a set of relevant variables related to people's welfare, such as employment, education, health, asset ownership and accident rates. According to the estimates made unde r the instrumental variables method, the Empalme 1B - Buenos Aires - Canchaque road concession has had, in general, a favourable impact on the well - being of people in the areas of influence of this concession. On the other hand, after using the propensity scor e matching method, it can be affirmed that in those sections of the projects Longitudinal de la Sierra Tramo 2: Ciudad de Dios - Cajamarca - Chiple - Cajamarca - Trujillo - Dv. Chilete - Emp. PE - 3N and Tramo Vial Dv. Quilca - Dv. Arequipa (Repartición) - Dv. Matarani - Dv. Moquegua - Dv. Ilo - Tacna - La Concordia, both concessions have had a favourable impact by identifying a reduction in accidents, fewer injuries and fewer fatalities compared to non - concessioned road sections.
