Abstract

This paper discusses the impact of new information technologies, especially Internet, in the structure of the music industry and offers an assessment of the main influences that are reconfiguring the operation of music creation and production. The analysis covers the content and the reconfiguration of the bases of competition and new business models as part of the strategic responses of established players in the sector. Expansion opportunities and the creative potential of Cuban music were studied, highlighting the strategic choices and new challenges facing the onslaught of the digital age.
