Abstract

This research arises from the need of a construction company in Peru to improve inventory management of per-sonal protective equipment (PPE) in one of its construction projects. Because the company has manual processes that slow down its operations, the objective of this work is to improve management efficiency and, consequently, increase productivity in the offices. A methodology already tested in other case studies was applied where changes are made in the management policy and implementation of information and communications technology (ICT). The flow of activities was analyzed and the times were measured, having a total of 34.5 minutes, a review of histor-ical office data was made, where initially there were 150 people per day and an initial investment of USD 11,960 was proposed in an ICT. After the improvement of the process, changes in the dispatch policy and the investment in an ICT, the service time was reduced by 40.58%, reaching 20.5 minutes throughout the process. With changes in warehouse management policies and a significant investment, it was possible to improve the attention of the offices, making the warehouse area more efficient and productive.
