Abstract

From the dynamic capabilities approach it analyses if the family ownership affects innovative activity, from identifying the relevant factors of a firm to innovate and gain competitive advantage in conditions of rapid change and uncertainty. This relationship is illustrated by the case of the firm Navesco, currently with a strong presence among the leaders in global maritime transport. The results show the importance of family ownership on innovative activity, and its effect on business dynamics, helping to clarify the existing literature
