Abstract
Here we gathered two types of critical studies about the recent history of architecture. The first deals with the sense of a unfinished debate, unresolved, that nevertheless marks the architecture of the last half century in the urban areas of the country: the debate between Neocolonial and Modern, two discernible styles between the all that surround us. The second essay analyses the work of an architect whose dichotomies leaves him unclassifiable, and whose work is little know: Héctor Velarde. Finally, we review revealing images of the ideas at play.
