Abstract

Several countries are facing deep energy challenges when their centralized production at power plants does not meet the growth of their energy demand. In order to deal with this situation, energy companies and large-scale energy users are exploring to turn to their own, on-grid/off-grid generation power plants ("Distributed Generation"). In this article, the author seeks to critically examine the legal framework involving the Generation Distributed and the impact that the draft regulations on the Generation Distributed could have on the Peruvian energy market. Moreover, some proposals and recommendations are included in this article aiming to be evaluated by policy makers in future attempts to implement a regulation on Distributed Generation.
