Abstract
Objective: To determine the relationship between share price and three key accounting variables –net income, total liabilities, and net equity– in Peruvian mining companies listed on the Lima Stock Exchange during the period 2013–2023. Methods: A quantitative, correlational, and non-experimental design was employed, using data from 24 mining companies over an eleven-year period. After conducting normality tests and determining that the normality assumption was not met, Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient was applied to measure the association between variables. Results: A moderate positive correlation was identified between net income and share price (ρ = 0.591), a moderate negative correlation with total liabilities and share price (ρ = –0.327), and a moderate positive correlation between equity and share price (ρ = 0.462); all correlations were statistically significant. Conclusion: The findings confirm that traditional financial indicators are significantly associated with share price in the evaluated mining companies. Net income and equity exhibit positive relationships with stock prices, whereas liabilities show a negative association, providing relevant evidence for understanding the financial behavior of the mining sector in emerging markets.
