Dr. Barrenechea is a full professor in the Academic Department of Social and Political Sciences and a member of the Research Center at the Universidad del Pacífico. He holds a PhD in Political Science from Northwestern University (Illinos, United States) and a Licentiate in Sociology from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. He has been a postdoctoral fellow at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs and a visiting researcher at the David Rockefeller School of Latin American Studies, both at Harvard University.
Dr. Barrenechea's research focuses on populism, political parties, and democracy in Latin America. His work has been published by diverse academic publishers, in Peru and abroad, and has featured in academic journals dedicated to the social sciences and research methodology.
