He is a Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics from the University of Minnesota (United States), a Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of Minnesota and holds a Licentiate (professional license) in Mathematics from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. He has experience as a researcher at Purdue University (United States) in which he also served as a professor in undergraduate and Master's degree courses in engineering. He also has experience as a Research Fellow at the Tata Institute for Fundamental Research (India). His interest in pure mathematics is in the area of algebraic topology, and in particular in the study of cellular decompositions of moduli spaces of Riemann surfaces.
