Professional profile

Dr. Nassi is a full professor in the Academic Department of Humanities, a member of the Research Center, and a member of the team of coordinators of the Francisco Tumi Language Laboratory at the Universidad del Pacífico. He holds a PhD in Hispanic Language and Literature from Boston University (United States), a Master of Arts in Hispanic Studies from The University of British Columbia (Canada), and a Licentiate in Linguistics and Literature with a major in Hispanic Literature from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
His research focuses on two areas of contemporary Latin American literature: the representation of consumer society and the different ways in which consumption and consumerism affect plot development , characterization, and other areas. His published articles include "La sociedad comercial del Astrólogo en Los Sietes Locos y Los Lanzallamas de Roberto Arlt” (Boletín de la Academia Peruana de la Lengua, 2023) and "El tiempo mercantilizado y la posición del sujeto en la sociedad de consumo en La prueba, de César Aira, y Mano de obra, de Diamela Eltit" (Ciberletras, 2023). The latter centers on the Latin American Boom of the 1960s. Besides studying the key novels of this period, especially those of José Donoso and Mario Vargas Llosa, Dr. Nassi is interested in the extraliterary factors that made this phenomenon possible.  
In addition to his work as a professor and researcher, Dr. Nassi pursues creative writing. His novellas La Voz de las Horas Oscuras (2010) and Convulsion (2013) and his book of short stories Clamoreos (2011) have been published, while his short stories have appeared in literary magazines.
