Description

This course introduces students to key ideas and debates in the field of international relations (IR). Students will be familiarised with Levels-of-Analysis and several leading IR theories including neo-liberalism, neo-realism, and strategic choice. Along with examining the political and military relations among the states, the lectures and readings will also focus on international political economy and the politics of global warfare (e.g., the environment, resource scarcity, north-south relations, poverty, disease, hunger, and human rights). Along with preparing students for upper-division coursework in international relations and international political economy, a key goal of this course is building analytic and critical thinking skills.
