This study analyzes the relationship between social innovation and corporate sustainability in Chilean companies as a case of emerging economies. In addition, we propose a new relationship between social innovation and corporate sustainability according to firm size.
• Our results state that social innovation positively impacts the economic and environmental sustainability of companies. We demonstrate the fundamental role of social innovation in firms in the context of an emerging economy. Therefore, we argue that companies decide to innovate socially to support society, the planet, and maximizing profits.
• The results indicate that the relationship between environmental and economic sustainability is not significant. Furthermore depends on geographical area and company size.
• Finally, we contributed those small and medium-sized companies find it more difficult to achieve greater environmental sustainability.
